Water from the public supply is tested routinely. Water from a private well is tested by no one; the owner alone is responsible. The recommended check is a lab test twice a year: two snapshots out of 365 days.
The contaminants that matter most, such as nitrate, have no taste, colour or smell. They move with rain, fertilising seasons and drought. It hits hardest for families with infants and small children on well water, and for villages and farms that depend on groundwater.
Well-water samples analysed by Slovak public-health authorities over the last 10 years: about one in three had elevated nitrate.
ÚVZ SR
Roughly one in ten people in Slovakia is not connected to a public water supply (89.6 % connected, 2021). Most rely on their own well.
ÚVZ SR
Share of EU groundwater monitoring stations above the 50 mg/l nitrate limit in 2016–2019, with no improvement on 2012–2015.

AquaSensIO is a solar-powered probe that stays in the well and measures the water around the clock. Data travel via satellite IoT into the IoT Hub app, so no mains power, Wi-Fi or mobile coverage is needed. Instead of one lab result a year, you see a trend and get a warning when the water changes. It does not replace the laboratory. It tells you when a lab test is worth doing.
The probe reads the well water continuously, day and night. Solar power and satellite IoT keep it running without mains, Wi-Fi or mobile signal.
IoT Hub turns raw readings into clear trends and spots departures from your well's normal.
When the water changes after heavy rain, fertilising or drought, you get a notification and know it is time for a lab test.
Continuous, independently validated water-quality data for any well, anywhere, so every family, village and farm knows what it drinks. Health through safely potable, crystal-clear water.
Each parameter carries its real status. Some are validated, some are still in development, and the page says which is which.
Our rule: a parameter is called “validated” only after comparison with an accredited reference.

Households, cottages and gardens that drink from their own well.
Villages without full public supply; operators of local sources.
Early detection and warning, because removing nitrate is technically demanding and expensive.
Irrigation and livestock wells, nitrate-vulnerable zones.
Continuous groundwater data between sampling campaigns.
Water-quality data integrated into their own monitoring platforms.
Dissolved oxygen and temperature have passed first field validation in wells in Slovakia against an accredited reference. Nitrate, UV absorbance and turbidity are in development, with validation in progress. The next step is a 10-unit pilot in Q4 2026.
